Abwun D'bwaschmaja

from Sum Electronica by Pete Brazier

about

This is a big phat dancy break beat kind of thing that I've produced called "Abwûn d'bwaschmâja". The words are actually the Lord's Prayer in Syriac which is apparently the closest living language to Aramaic (the language that Jesus spoke). Apologies to anyone who actually speaks Syriac, my pronunciation is probably appalling as I got the translation off the internet with written instructions on how to say it. Of course there's always a possibility that the whole web page was made up and it's really just a recipe for carrot and coriander soup (or worse), how the heck would I know?

By the way there is some metaphorical meaning stuff in there about the importance of the words in the prayer and how their meaning is lost, not in translation so much as mindless repetition. Anyway - enjoy.

The video for this can be viewed on Youtube.
