Gather your people, O Lord, from the Mountains

from Hymns in the Time of Lockdown by Pete Brazier

/

about

A hymn for communion based partly on the Didache 9, 1 Corinthians 11 & Ezekiel 34

lyrics

1. Gather your people, O Lord, from the mountains,
Gather the hungry, the broken, the lost,
Gather them in to the feast you're preparing,
And send out your Church to the ends of the Earth.

2. Break down the structures that keep us from moving,
Break down our self-centred sense of the world,
Break down the walls that we're building between us,
And rebuild us all in the image of you.

3. Pour out your spirit, to all who are hopeless,
Pour out your life-giving blood to the world,
Pour out your breath to bring life to the lifeless,
And breathe in to all of us visions of love.

4. Feed us O Lord with the food that is lasting
Feed us with food that is good for the soul
Feed us with visions and words of your Kingdom
And take from our shoulders the burdens of life
