The Rhythm and the River

about

This is a track I wrote about a year ago in Deganwy, but only recently got round to recording it. (Remixed and updated Feb 28th 2016)

lyrics

How I long for the cool, cool river of your love;
Water running over rocks to make them smooth,
And the rocks become a rhythm like a groove,
And the rhythm is the thing that makes us move.

All along, we saw hearts half broken in the stream;
There were jagged edges cutting as we go,
And they're seeking love that some may never know,
And they carry wounds we make them scared to show.

Roll down, O river flow;
We are seeking, o let us know.
In the stream there's a rhythm running through,
May our spirits dance along with you.

Every hymn that denies the damaged soul a place to sing,
Must be quiet as we find a space to break,
And the water on the rocks becomes a lake;
May we never let our gathering be fake.

Go out and seek the lost;
Find the broken at any cost.
In the streets of the city and the lanes,
May your love fall down on us like rain.
